Fishing and Regulations

• Oregon recreational salmon fishery: NOAA Fisheries reports that coho retention is allowed from Cape Falcon to Humbug Mountain on September 20 and September 26, 2026. The daily bag limit is two salmon, with no fin clip requirement. From September 21 through September 25, and from September 27 through October 31, all salmon except coho may be retained, with a two-salmon daily bag limit. Kept Chinook must measure at least 24 inches in total length.
• Aleutian Islands rockfish retention: NOAA Fisheries says NMFS will prohibit retention of other rockfish in the Aleutian Islands subarea of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area starting at noon Alaska local time on September 21, 2026. The action is intended to keep the 2026 total allowable catch from being exceeded. An exception applies to fish caught by catcher vessels using hook-and-line, pot, or jig gear.

Wildfire and Fire Restrictions

• Yosemite Dome Fire: The National Park Service reported on September 18 that the Dome Fire had burned 1,977 acres, reached 10% containment, and had 386 personnel assigned. The fire remained active to the north and northwest, with spot fires ahead of the main fire. No evacuation orders or warnings were in place, and there was no immediate threat to infrastructure or developed areas. Check current park and fire conditions before you travel.

Trail and Access Closures

• Chilnualna Falls trails: Yosemite National Park remains open, but the Chilnualna Falls Trail and trails toward Buena Vista and Crescent Lakes are closed because of the Dome Fire. The lakes remain reachable from the east, so confirm your route and closure status before setting out.
