Hunting and Seasons

• Michigan urges waterfowl hunters to Clean, Drain, Dry: The Michigan Invasive Species Program asks you to inspect waders, decoys, boats, trailers, anchors, dogs, and related gear, remove plants and debris, drain water, and dry equipment for five days when possible before moving between waters. Fishing and Regulations

• NOAA completes 2026 Pacific coral surveys: Researchers surveyed reefs across American Samoa and the Pacific Islands Heritage Marine National Monument, completing more than 1,000 scuba dives and hundreds of fish, coral, and water surveys to track reef health and ocean conditions. Wildfire and Fire Restrictions

• Yosemite reports a 100-acre Dome Fire: The fire was reported near Chilnualna Falls and was spreading north and northeast. Crews were using ground and aerial resources, with no immediate threat to infrastructure or developed areas reported in the September 16 update. Check the National Park Service update before traveling.

Trail and Access Closures

• Chilnualna Falls trails temporarily closed: Yosemite closed the Chilnualna Falls Trail and trails from the top of the falls toward Buena Vista and Crescent Lakes because of the Dome Fire. Buena Vista and Crescent Lakes remain reachable from the east. Review the National Park Service closure information before you go.

Water Safety

• Kayaker rescued after capsizing in British Columbia: A 71-year-old kayaker encountered five- to six-foot waves in Howe Sound and was rescued after about 15 minutes in the water.
