Waterproof Boots are Must-Haves When Venturing Into the Snow

Fluffy snow looks harmless.  It’s light, airy and soft to the touch.  However, a brief rain shower or rise in temperature can quickly transform light snow into a watery mess.

It is in those moments when your attention will turn to your feet.  If you don’t have waterproof boots, snow, rain and other moisture will seep inward, ruining your outdoor experience.

The Value of Waterproof Boots

When shopping for winter footwear, regular boots will not suffice.  You need waterproof boots to make it through the elements with dry feet.  Otherwise, snow, slush and rain will seep through your footwear and into your socks.

Though it is possible to treat your boots with a waterproofing spray at home, doing so is onerous and often ineffective.    Instead, let the pros do it for you this Christmas season.

Choose for professionally made waterproof boots when holiday shopping and you’ll find they are protected with proven waterproofing agents.  This is the confidence you need when venturing into the winter wonderland.

What Waterproofing Really Means

Professional waterproofing at boot manufacturing plants is significantly different from sprays used at home.

The best boots are designed with an interior waterproof membrane that takes the form of a lining or barrier built into the boot’s underlying and surrounding structure.  Such a liner wicks away snow, rain, sleet and slush, serving as a shield of sorts.

Some waterproof boot designs are even advanced to the point that they permit sweat in the form of vapor to move outward.  Certain boots are designed with seam sealing, often strategically placed at the points where distinct materials connect, shoring up these weak spots to prevent water penetration.

Seam sealing techniques often takes the form of sealant or even specialized tape added to boots’ weak points.

The end result?

Dry socks and feet that provide the comfort and warmth necessary for you to continue hunting, fishing, hiking, skiing or snowboarding for the rest of the day.

Boots with even higher waterproofing have an additional coating for more water resistance.  The coating stops outside moisture from seeping in, preventing boots from becoming soaked when exposed to snow or other moisture.

Consider the Alternative to Professional Waterproofing

If you were to attempt DIY boot waterproofing or ventured outdoors in the winter months without waterproofed boots, your socks would be soaked.  Wet socks lead to wet feet and discomfort.

If you are like most people, you don’t want to spend more than an hour outdoors with wet socks and feet.  Choose waterproofed boots that keep the moisture out and your feet will stay dry and warm for an entire day of hunting, skiing, snowboarding, ice fishing or hiking.

That’s how winter is meant to be enjoyed.
