I decided to try ziplining in Africa, thinking it’d be the ultimate way to experience the wilderness. I was ready to soar above the savannah, maybe spot some elephants or giraffes—living my best Tarzan fantasy. But what I didn’t expect was the sheer speed and intensity of the ride.
As I clipped into the harness, I was all excitement—until I heard the guide say, “It’s faster than you think.” Fast forward to me launching off the platform like I was shot from a cannon. The wind whipped past me, and for a split second, I wondered if I had signed up for an actual roller coaster.
I soared above the treetops, my heart pounding. And while I couldn’t spot any wildlife (except a very startled-looking bird), the view was stunning. I got a glimpse of the vast African landscape like few others have, and I realized I wasn’t just ziplining—I was flying.
Did I spot any animals? No, but I did get a whole lot of adrenaline, laughs, and a story that’s definitely a highlight of my travels.
