Tried playing soccer at White Sands National Park—big mistake. Dribbling? Impossible. Every pass? Straight into the sand, never to be seen again. One shot caught the wind and is probably in Texas now.
Barefoot? Bad idea. Sand went from “cool and soft” to “lava” real fast. Highlight of the game? A roadrunner outrunning us all like Messi in bird form.
Final score: Wind - 2, Sand - 5, Us - Sunburned. Would I do it again? Absolutely. With cleats and a leash for the ball.
Anyone else played soccer in a ridiculous place?
🤣
Great story haha and can totally relate to that feeling of ice cold/molten lava that seems par for the course in any dunes. I imagine simply trying to run at normal speed was tremendously more difficult than it should have been, too 🤣
Lol I love the imagery of this story!
