Riding the Great North Woods

I'm fairly new to the world of snowmobiling, but living where I do, it's impossible not to dive all the way in. As an avid snowboarder, winter camper, snowshoer, and so on, this is such a different winter activity than I'm used to. I've always been a bit of a Type 2 fun girl, but snowmobiling is full-on Type 1 fun!

The area I live in is referred to as The Great North Woods, and for those of you who think we don't have winters like we used to, I assure you winter is alive and well here. It's an incredibly rural stretch of Northern New Hampshire, bordering Canada. Full of wildlife and littered with beautiful lakes and crystal clear streams. It's a spectacular area, but there is a part of me that never quite saw its beauty for what it was. You know how it is, the grass is always greener. I was so quick to find the beauty in every place around the country I visited and explored, but it was so easy to miss what was right under my nose.

Funny enough, it wasn't until I tried this new Type 1 Fun on for size that my eyes were opened. The snowmobile trails grant access to hundreds of miles of land I would have never seen. On a 6-hour outing just a couple of weeks back, I was laughing out loud to myself inside the privacy of my helmet, tears welling in my eyes, and catching myself saying out loud "This is truly the most beautiful place on Earth."

If you haven't explored this way - do it! And if you have, what part of the country is your favorite to ride??
