Hit the slopes at Jackson Hole, ready to shred like a pro. Reality? More like a human snowball with a lift ticket. But somehow, luck was on my side.

First lucky break? Missed a massive wipeout by accidentally falling before I hit an ice patch. (Totally intentional, of course.) Second? Dropped my glove off the lift, only to find an identical one at lost and found. Fate? I think so.

Then, just as I was about to give up after yet another graceful tumble, some random ski bro rode past, gave me a fist bump, and said, “Dude, sick recovery.” Sir, I appreciate your lies.

Anyone else had a snowboarding day where luck saved your b**t?

I love the glove story- what are the chances??

Luckiest strike I've ever struck was out in Colorado (I think it was at Keystone) on a serious pow day. It was a weekday, so it was fairly quiet, even with the good snow. I almost never bring my go-pro out on any adventure, but for some reason, I felt like it was the day for it. Anyway, I made it to the end of a very long, very deep run only to discover the go-pro was no longer attached to the nose of my board.

Well, I may not have used it frequently, but that was an expensive gadget that I wasn't keen on losing. I figured there was no way I would ever see it again, but I decided to hit the last run again. Super long ride down. Tons of snow. And sure, there weren't a ton of people..but there were still people! My chances were slim to none....and yet, as luck would have it, when I was nearly back down to base...there it was. Laying in the snow. Lens towards the sky. Still recording 🤣

I'll add to the Keystone locale... except this didn't happen on mountain, but driving away from it.

My friend and I had just finished up a really solid day of skiing. Conditions were blue bird in the morning, playful and friendly. During the second half of the day, a big storm started refilling all the powder. We spent the second half of the day exploring our favorite powder stashes.

Eventually, it was time to head back to the Front Range. We loaded up and catapulted out of there. Not having adjusted to the road conditions from the storm, I braked too hard for a red light going through town. I immediately lost traction (in a Subaru, mind you), and started sliding into oncoming traction. The slide turned into a spin. Eventually, we came to a stop on a snow bank,  looking in reverse, and three or four lanes over from where we started.

During the slide-out, there was very little incoming traffic. On top of that, the snowbank we landed in didn't completely swallow us. We were able to get out, flip a U-turn, and keep heading home. No damage to the car, nothing. We were very lucky.
