Writing this on Easter Sunday, but thinking about holiday traditions that stray a bit from the norm...

We outdoor folk rarely follow the herd...especially when it comes to things like big cities, flashy clothes, and indoor activities.

For myself and my siblings, New Year's Ever is one example of a time we are never doing the popular thing. Sitting in some city bar or club, drinking, wearing plastic glasses in the shape of the upcoming year, watching the ball drop? Not on NYE - NYE is for snowboarding! Every year, always. A lot of resorts do fun things on New Years, and I've been lucky to spend my NYE still out on the mountain watching fireworks or enjoying the apres scene still in all my layers and gear all over the country.

It's a super special holiday tradition for me! What about you? Any holidays that have turned into an annual outdoor event for you and yours?
