2025 is the year I dive way deeper into foraging! I've done a lot of research, and there are a few items over the years that I've spent plenty of time in the woods for.
Leeks, morel mushrooms, huckleberries, wild blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries, and dandelions- roots and all! Clearly, I've kept it simple so far, but I'm super excited to dive into more mushrooms this year.
What are your favorite things to forage and do you have recommendations for beginners?
@callmethebreeze, Yes! This is a great topic. So, if you're in the PNW, here are some items I recommend:
Morel mushrooms, chanterelle mushrooms, salmonberries, thimbleberries, huckleberries, wild ramps (wild leeks), stinging nettle, miner’s lettuce, oyster mushrooms, and wild hazelnuts are all great things to forage in the woods of Washington, Oregon, and Northern California.
The wild ramps/leeks are always among my favorites - great for soup! As always, make sure you forage the right mushrooms. 😎
