Turns out when it comes to deep sea fishing, it's less about fishing, and more about working the horn. In other words...much like in every other aspect of life, it's not about what you know, it's who you know.

This may sound a little crazy, but the ocean is a BIG place, and no matter how great of a guide you have, they can't do it alone. It takes a village. Finding a fisherman who knows how to communicate with another fisherman in the area is critical to being successful. Think about it, no ONE man can cover one lake successfully...scale that up to the ocean. Similarly, no ONE man or one captain or one guide can put you on fish with certainty in such a huge space. It takes more than one man and one boat, working together for the best possible outcome. If you hope to hit the high seas for dep sea fishing, look for a charter that gets along well with other charters, that talks them up, and that communicates openly with them. This doesn't mean you're competing; it actually means you're covering more ground!

I'd love to hear from other deep sea fishing enthusiasts on this one...Is this an accurate take??
