First of all- let's be very clear! Ice fishing in early and late season can be dangerous. So, tread lightly. It's easy to become complacent in the late season. You've been going out week after week with no checking of the ice, but as the weather warms, ice changes quickly, and complacency can be lethal. Pay close attention to the ice that you tread upon as you plan your days out there.

Second- it's your last opportunity of the year to fish areas you typically can't. Make this time count. Test the ice and GET OUT THERE. There are a lot of areas that aren't fishable on open water so use this time to get creative on the ice to explore new areas.

Third- Recon! One of the coolest things about ice fishing is that it allows you to check out areas on the water that you typically wouldn't in the spring/summer/fall. Use this time to research what fish are frequenting specific areas and what they're biting on. This is a great time to research what works best in different pockets!

What late season ice fishing tips would YOU add??
