Tried ice fishing at Lake of the Woods, thinking it’d be all rugged and adventurous. Reality? Mostly sitting, freezing, and questioning life choices.
Drilled a hole, dropped a line, and waited. And waited. And… still nothing. Meanwhile, some show-off fish jumped out of a hole ten feet away—basically moonwalking on ice just to flex on us.
Tried to warm up with hot coffee. Spilled it. Immediately created an iced coffee I didn’t want.
Highlight? Watching a buddy’s chair slowly slide across the ice while he panicked like a penguin on roller skates.
Final score: Fish - 12, Us - Frozen. Would I do it again? Sure—if I bring a heater and lower my expectations.
Anyone else had an ice fishing disaster?
Haha in some ways, all ice fishing tales end in disaster. In other ways- it's never a true disaster if you stay out of the water 🤣
Definitely a waiting man's game haha. And a heater is crucial!
