Spent an unforgettable weekend tossing a disc at Many Glacier Campground in Glacier National Park, and I might have just found the most scenic "field" I’ve ever played on. Nestled in a valley surrounded by jagged peaks, it felt like playing in a postcard—except with the added challenge of unpredictable mountain winds!
Mornings started with loons calling from Swiftcurrent Lake, and one sunrise game was briefly interrupted by a moose casually strolling past our makeshift sidelines. We found the perfect open meadow near Swiftcurrent Motor Inn where we got in some solid games of ultimate. The crisp mountain air and soft grass made for a dream setup, though chasing errant throws into the wild felt like a built-in cardio workout.
After hiking to Grinnell Glacier during the day, we’d wind down in camp with some casual throws while watching the alpenglow light up Mount Gould. Something about playing under those towering peaks just hit differently.
Only downside? The mountain winds had their own game plan, sending long hucks into the trees or, once, straight into Swiftcurrent Creek (retrieval mission successful!).
Anyone else ever played a game of ultimate in a national park? Got a favorite wild spot to toss a disc?
