One of my favorite day hikes while living in Vermont was the Woodstock Aqueduct trails. They are tucked back in a residential area, but include a beautiful, easily accessible trail system for both mountain bikers and hikers. There’s very few elevation changes and it’s wooded throughout. There is a body of water in the middle of the trail that I loved watching change from season to season. The water is a perfect halfway point. From there, you can choose to go back the way you came or continue on to the more forested part of the trail. Throughout, you can see evidence of an old town settlement and there is a rich history surrounding the Woodstock Aqueduct land. Woodstock as a town can get very crowded and touristy so the Aqueduct trails are a nice local gem!
