Share Your Best Waterfall Experiences
Few natural attractions rival a waterfall. And I've seen a lot of them across the U.S. Below is a quick list of some of my favorites:
- Any Waterfall in Wisconsin: Big Manitou, Willow, Copper, Potato River, Long Slide, Amnicon...the list goes on. Wisconsin is the land of waterfalls, and the trails to the falls are just as fun.
- Sioux Falls: The only downside to Sioux Falls waterfalls is that the city somewhat overshadows their beauty. However, the falls are amazing on their own. The cascading rock formations are a sight to behold.
- Glacier National Park: Virginia, St. Mary, Running Eagle, Apikuni, Redrock, Florence, Morning Eagle, and more. The Virginia and St. Mary Falls have incredible scenic trails that go deep in the wilderness. Don't forget about Sunrift Gorge.
- Multnomah Falls: Quite possibly the most mind-blowing falls in the U.S., definitely in Oregon. The falls are 620 feet high. There's a really cool bridge that crosses over the falls. It's a bit surreal.
- Burney Falls: Northern California has dozens of waterfalls. However, Burney Falls may rank as the most powerful and scenic.
- Snoqualmie Falls: Next time you're in the Seattle, WA area, check out these falls, especially in the spring. Standing at 268 feet high, the water gushes over the cliffs and crashes down at the bottom, creating a deep, thunderous sound. It's a bit intimidating.
- Havasu Falls: Honestly, the 10-mile, 2500-foot descending hike to Havasu is as much fun as the destination. But the payoff has its own rewards. Careful, though. You better plan well in advance for Havasu, as reservations are difficult to get.
Okay, that's enough. Now, it's your turn. What are some of your favorite waterfalls?
