One of my favorite places in the entire world is Walden Pond in Concord, MA and I got to spend some time there this past week. Because it's late March, the pond was pretty empty and I felt so lucky to have the trail mostly to myself.
Walden Pond has a trail that wraps around the entire pond and from that main trail, you can take other pathways to immerse yourself in the history that Thoreau made there. You can visit his meadow, his bean field, and follow in the footsteps of the walks he would take with his friend Emerson. I studied Thoreau in college for my honors thesis and reading Walden was a big catalyst in my love of the outdoors. Whenever I am there, I try to tap into a feeling of solitude, self-reliance, and deep reverence for nature; just like Thoreau.
Have you ever visited Walden? Did you find solitiude there?
I absolutely agree! It's such a special place. Thoreau is one of my all-time favorites, and the connection to him you find through nature there is palpable
