A few years back, my siblings and I explored the Utah Mighty 5 National Parks in just 7 days. We were go-go-go from sun-up to sun-down, but we never felt rushed. Here's a similar itinerary to set you up to do the same!

Days 1–2: Arches National Park (Base in Moab)

Start your adventure in Moab and give yourself two days to explore Arches.

  • On day one, hit the iconic Delicate Arch at sunrise to beat the heat and crowds, then cruise through the Windows Section and Balanced Rock.
  • On day two, hike into Devil’s Garden—go as far as your legs will take you—and check out Sand Dune Arch and Tower Arch if you want something quieter.
  • Hike the Park Avenue Trail for a super scenic, under-the-radar walk through towering canyon walls—it feels like you're strolling through a giant stone cathedral.
  • Stay in Moab for access to good food, showers, and campgrounds—or find a dispersed camping spot just outside of town.

Day 3: Canyonlands + Capitol Reef

Get an early start for a big day.

  • Spend your morning at Canyonlands (Island in the Sky)—don’t miss Mesa Arch or Grand View Point.
  • Hike the Cohab Canyon Trail for colorful rock formations, hidden canyons, and killer views over Fruita.
  • Drive the scenic byway to Capitol Reef, making time to stop at Goosenecks Overlook.
  • Try the White Rim Overlook Trail - short, sweet, and stunning, especially at sunset with panoramic views over the Colorado River.
  • Camp near Torrey or along the route to Bryce.

Day 4: Bryce Canyon

Even with just a day, you can get a full experience at Bryce.

  • Hike the Queen’s Garden/Navajo Loop—this combo trail gives you the best views of the hoodoos and drops you right into the heart of the canyon.
  • Add Peekaboo Loop if you’ve got extra energy—it’s a longer hike that weaves through Bryce’s wildest hoodoo country.
  • Check out Inspiration Point or Bryce Point for golden hour.
  • Camp at North Campground or stay nearby in Tropic or Bryce Canyon City.

Days 5–6: Zion National Park

Wrap up in Zion with two full days—there’s so much to see.

  • Try to score a permit for Angels Landing (apply ahead of time), or do the Observation Point hike if you want the views without the crowds.
  • Dedicate a day to hiking The Narrows - rent gear if the water’s cold and check flow conditions before you go.
  • Don’t skip Canyon Overlook Trail - it’s short and delivers one of the best bang-for-your-buck views in the entire park.
  • Base yourself in Springdale or camp at Watchman for easy park access, but make sure to book well in advance.

Have fun, enjoy, and let me know if this is a road trip you would take!!
