Jacobsburg State Park in Nazareth, PA is another one of my favorite natural areas in Pennsylvania. A truly sprawling park, the Bushkill River runs right through it. My friends and I would love going there in the summertime to wade in the water and look for stones. There was one time we found these really beautiful small, blue stones. We tried for ages to figure out what they were, but never did. My partner and I kept them and we have them on display in our house as "Pennsylvania Turquoise."
The trail system at Jacobsburg also inspired one of our musical performances. We took a trail map and played improvised pieces based on the contour of different trails. That was a really exciting way to be musically inspired by nature and outdoor recreation!
