Has anybody listened to the podcast from Serial called The Good Whale? It's about the story of scientists and conservationists tried to save Keiko the orca whale from Free Willy. It opens a really interesting discussion on best practices for animals that have already been somewhat domesticated in captivity. Should we try to rewild them? Or make them as comfy as they can be in the captivity they know? Without spoiling too many details of the story, I honestly think the final team of people caring for Keiko went too far and they should have stopped somewhere in the middle of the process where Keiko was at his healthiest, even though he wasn't fully wild. But it is so hard to fund and staff huge project like that. Give the podcast a listen and weigh in with your thoughts!
