When I worked in a campground, we had such a big problem with people setting up tents offsite and into the woods. I like the idea that in the backcountry you can set up off the beaten path and have a more woodsy camp. But in a campground, especially a well-managed, urban(ish) state park, those site pads exist for a reason. We had virtually no understory because of people expanding their campsites and that meant each site became less and less private, causing more and more noise complaints, etc. I made this graphic for a program I taught about sustainable use of the land.
Have you ever run into this?
