Who else gets excited about celestial events??
Tonight is the Blood Worm Moon Lunar Eclipse, and I for one, will be staying up to watch it! I know it's a mouth full, but the full moon in the month of March is always called the Worm Moon. The names of full moons come from the Farmer's Almanac, and this one was named to signal the return of earth worms to the soil, thus leading to the return of song birds coming to feast on them. The name Worm Moon sounds a bit silly, but it's really a term that carries with it the joy of spring returning!
Blood Moon is the name associated with lunar eclipses because the shadow cast on the moon by the Earth gives it a reddish glow. So, there ya have it, these two phenomena give us the Blood Worm Moon!
Anyone else staying up to check it out tonight?
