I have been rocking a Mountain Hardwear Stretch Ozonic rain jacket for the last 6 or 7 years. I am absolutely obsessed with it. It's soft, quiet (not that annoying crinkly material), and sooo stretchy. I can layer it over multiple layers no problem, I can pack it down super small, and most importantly, I can move with full mobility - hiking, climbing, setting up camp, etc.

It's one of my favorite pieces of outdoor apparel. After a run-in with an over-eager pup, it's torn at the pocket. I plan to repair it to the best of my ability, but clearly, it will have lost some of its waterproofing ability. I may end up investing in another rain jacket, and if I do I'm undecided if I would get another Stretch Ozonic or if I should consider something new...

What are your favorite outdoor apparel brands? Who makes the best rain jacket in your opinion?

Recently, I noticed almost everything in my closet is either Outdoor Research, Patagonia, or Kuhl. In terms of rain jackets, I've been loving OR jackets.

P.S. Mountain Hardware makes my FAVORITE backpack. I have two in different sizes. The MH Cragwagon.

@callmethebreeze, please don't laugh. A few years ago, I was in Target and saw a cheap jacket on the rack. I wouldn't normally buy any jacket from Target, but this one looked good on me. It was only 20 bucks, so I bought it.

Later, I discovered how insulated and rainproof it was. It can be pouring down outside and cold, and I stay warm and dry. The brand name faded off the tag, so I couldn't even tell you what brand it was. I've had it for four years, and it's been the best raincoat ever.

I have Patagonia, Columbia, and Kuhl, and they don't even come close.

@adventurejunkie Oh my gosh, I love this!! You hit the jackpot! That really goes to show the price tag doesn't always mean much
