One of my favorite outdoor spaces is Mount Ascutney State Park. I love it because there’s such a wide range of activities you can do there. There’s a beautiful campground, a big mountain (for the East Coast), and a scenic drive. I love that you can drive up to the summit or hike to it and that there are cabins peppered alongside the mountain. There are also trails from the summit parking lot so you can still drive up and hike- the best of both worlds! The mountain itself is a monadnock and the trails are all over it, even outside of the park. The campground rests at its base. Occasionally, people will launch their hang gliders from Mount Ascutney or mountain bike there. I have always wanted to hang glide, but never got the chance. I used to house sit at a cabin with a beautiful view of the mountain. I’d sit in the hot tub under the stars and look out at it, thinking about how old that land is and all of the changes it’s gone through. If you’re in Vermont, I highly recommend checking out this park!
