Just spent a long weekend in a rustic cabin near Grand Teton National Park, and it was the perfect winter getaway. Tucked in the woods with a wood-burning stove, no WiFi, and nothing but snow-covered peaks in the distance—exactly what I needed to unplug.
Mornings started with fresh coffee on the porch, watching elk move through the valley, followed by days of snowshoeing and cross-country skiing right from the cabin door. Nights were all about reading by lantern light and listening to the wind howl through the pines.
One of the best parts? Stepping outside on the last night to catch the clearest night sky I’ve ever seen—no light pollution, just endless stars and the faint glow of the Milky Way.
Who else loves a good cabin retreat? Any favorite spots for a remote getaway?
Love this vibe! My partner and I did a cabin trip in Matamoras, Pennsylvania which very much felt like the middle of nowhere. The property was huge and wooded with no real marked trails. We explored for hours in the deep snow and it was one of my first weekends spent off-grid, purely hiking and exploring outdoors. It was definitely instrumental in me picking up all of the outdoor hobbies I have now. I remember we made it up that the cabin was haunted and it brought a fun element of imagination to the trip!
