I watched an epic bouldering short film last night on Youtube. Besides just displaying awesome climbing and filmmaking, the video was sort of the intro/teaser for what I am gathering is a new Black Diamond clothing line–BD- Hex.
From the website, it looks like high-end streetwear. It's casual, oversized, and far from technical. Based on the video and the type of clothing, it definitely looks like the target audience is boulderers. I cannot imagine wearing anything BD-Hex is going to make in my work as a guide or as I hike into a canyon somewhere to climb a multi-pitch.
Besides aesthetics, the price point for the garments is on point with other brands. But it feels more expensive because the clothing looks so simple. But I'm sure there are nuances to the construction of the clothing I'm not understanding. Materials wise, there seems to be am emphasis on organic cotton and USA-made cotton, so that's cool.
What do you guys think?
Anyway, here's the video... "Through the Storm"
