Baseball has always been a game of highs and lows, but there’s one moment that stuck with me more than any win. It was late in the season, and we were down by one run. I was at bat, with the game on the line. The pitcher threw a perfect strike, and I swung—missed. The second pitch came, and I swung again—another miss.
The crowd fell silent as I stood there, on the brink of failure. But then, something clicked. I stopped thinking about the pressure, stopped worrying about the outcome. I focused only on the ball. When the third pitch came, I hit it. Not a home run, but a clean single, and it was enough to tie the game.
We didn’t win that night, but I realized that sometimes the true victory isn’t in the score—it’s in letting go of the fear of failure and just playing the game.
