Last spring, I found myself trekking through the rugged beauty of the Cairngorms National Park in Scotland, one of the UK’s wildest backcountry areas. With a map in hand and my backpack packed, I set off on the Lairig Ghru, a remote highland pass that cuts through the heart of the Cairngorms.
The path was rugged, with thick heather, boulders, and streams to navigate, and as the fog rolled in over the peaks, I felt like I was walking through another world. The silence of the mountains was broken only by the distant call of red deer and the rush of the river. After a long day of hiking, I set up camp by a small, hidden loch, surrounded by nothing but the wild beauty of the land.
As the sun set, casting a golden glow over the hills, I realized that this backcountry adventure in Scotland wasn’t just about the physical challenge—it was about reconnecting with the wild, untamed spirit of nature.
