BLM Camping at Badlands National Park
I've been on the road for three years straight, driving across the country in my RV. Before that, I never knew what BLM camping was. Fast-forward three years later, and I'm all too familiar with BLM-designated areas across the West.
Let's be honest. BLM territory tends to become a dumping ground for irresponsible, reckless campers who don't understand the concept of 'leave no trace'. However, some of my best rugged, primitive camping experiences have been on BLM territory.
One of my favorite experiences was boondocking at the dispersed camping area of Badlands NP South Entrance. The dispersed camping area is about a mile before the gate to the East. It overlooks a massive cliff that disappears into the valley that Badlands is known for.
You can park your vehicle as close to the edge as you want, set up your grill, and enjoy the scenery until the sun sets in the west. If you park your RV just right, you can wake up to a valley sunrise. Best of all, it's only two minutes from the Badlands NP entrance.
