The Faroe Islands had been calling me for years, and when I finally set foot on Streymoy, I knew I was in for something special. The backcountry here isn’t like anywhere else—the rolling green cliffs plunge straight into the sea, waterfalls tumble from impossible heights, and mist drifts across the fjords like a living thing.

I set out on a trail toward Slættaratindur, the highest peak in the Faroes. The wind howled as I climbed, and seabirds circled below, their cries lost in the crashing waves. The summit was shrouded in mist, but for a moment, the clouds parted, revealing a breathtaking view of the North Atlantic stretching endlessly beyond the cliffs.

As I made my way down, I passed tiny turf-roofed villages tucked into the hills, untouched by time. The Faroes are a place where nature still rules, where every step feels like discovering a secret world.
