Over the past two weeks I've been traveling around Central and Western Massachusetts visiting with Girl Scout troops to present an Intro to Camping program. A big part of our summer camps is the archery range so I've been offering a 30 minute Intro to Archery session as part of the program. At first I was admittedly pretty nervous. I'm not an experienced archer and teaching children how to shoot seemed daunting. BUT..... it all went so well and I ended up having the time of my life. My takeaways so far are to prioritize safety above all else, make sure they get to shoot at least two arrows, go slow, and just have fun! The girls did not care at all about getting a bullseye or having perfect form, they were just excited to try something new and be active. It was so empowering and I cannot wait to continue this journey with archery!
